RESEARCH

This research project was developed by the Manchester Chemsex Partnership and funded by Manchester’s Sexual Health Commissioner.

The central aim was to develop an improved digital offer that is responsive to the local chemsex support needs of people living in Manchester and the surrounding local authority areas. It set out to gain an in-depth understanding of the experiences and perspectives of people with personal experience of chemsex, as well as professionals who work directly with them.

A qualitative approach (semi-structured interviews and a focus group) was used to identify what people with lived experience of chemsex, and practitioners who offer a range of support services, would like to see developed as part of an improved digital offer for chemsex support in Manchester.

This included a focus on:

i) the type of digital space they would want to see developed

ii) what content and information they want and

ii) the format they want to see developed.
